Description
Seldon Capital is a San Francisco–based hedge fund founded by senior investors from Soros Fund Management, focused on forecasting long-term fundamentals across public markets. Our work blends deep fundamental research with quantitative and macro context, with particular emphasis on boom-and-bust cycles driven by technology, industry structure, and government policy.
We’re looking for an early-career Fundamental Analyst (roughly 1–4 years out) who wants to do real investment work alongside experienced PMs — not operate inside a short-term, siloed pod-style or execution-only environment.
This role is for people who care deeply about forecasting and disciplined reasoning under uncertainty.
What we care about
We’re interested in candidates who:
• Think naturally in probabilities and scenarios
• Are comfortable forming views without perfect information
• Focus on downside, regimes, and second-order effects
• Enjoy forecasting multi-year outcomes, not just quarters
• Can explain why they believe something, not just what a model says
Signals that matter to us
Strong candidates often have evidence of independent thinking, such as:
• Participation in forecasting or prediction markets (e.g., Good Judgment Project, Metaculus, Kalshi)
• Quantitative or ML competitions (e.g., Kaggle), or comparable side projects
• Personal research, modeling, or investment write-ups done outside of work
None of these are requirements — but they are strong positive signals. Please include them on your resume or as an attachment to your resumé if applicable.
Backgrounds that tend to fit well
We’ve seen good fit from people with:
• Investment banking, credit, or hedge fund experience
• Cross-asset or macro-aware public markets exposure
• 1–4 years of experience and a desire to build judgment, not just follow a playbook
What this role is not
• Not a short-term, siloed investing role
• Not an execution-only or “just build the model” seat
• Not a place where someone else hands you a book and tells you what to think
This is a role for someone who wants to develop as an investor and contribute daily to real portfolio decisions.
Location
In-person, San Francisco.
